Kick Ass Greyfryers is in the lively Grassmarket area, surrounded by bars and cafés and within walking distance to sites around central Edinburgh. The hostel features quiet, clean and comfortable rooms and highly praised pub crawls and walking tours. Guests have told us there’s ‘lots of common areas to meet people if you’re travelling on your own’ and that they ‘recommend it for people who are looking to party and meet people’. We’ve noticed that several of their guests have returned to stay there again and again.

IMPORTANT: NO GUESTS UNDER 18 YEARS OLD. Proof of age is required at check-in. A valid credit or debit card is required at check-in, to be checked against guest ID (card must be physically present, we cannot take details over the phone, email or fax.)

SECURITY. 24h Reception. No curfew. Secure electronic swipe cards for all rooms. CCTV throughout and security wristbands issued to all our guests. Secure lockers provided for every bed.
MODERN ROOMS. All rooms have Wi-Fi access, USB charging points at each bed and private bed lights. Bunks have been designed to give max headroom and mattresses are hotel superior quality. Fresh clean bed linen provided free of charge.

Bad smell, a lot of showers at not working, the bedding are too small, breakfast is really bad…
On a positive perspective, the location is great and the bar looks cool!

Fabulous location right in the centre of old town - do note this means it can be a little loud late outside but no fault of the hostel. Super quick check in and out process, friendly staff, comfy beds, plenty of toilets and showers. Incredibly clean - probably one of the best I’ve stayed in. Communal area is nicely decorated - didn’t use it a huge amount but it seemed busy in the evening and they’ve a lovely drinks patio outside.

Nice central Hostel, which is perfect for a short visit. The cleanliness was ok, but the facilities were disappointing and not what you would expect for this rate. None of the showers were working on our floor and there were just lockers for luggage storage, which have to be paid for every opening. All in all, a nice but expensive hostel.
